Have You Met… Brown Bird?

xlThe economy may be down but if there’s one thing we here in the good ‘ol US of A have in abundance it’s bearded folk singers. Unfortunately for you, I’m still not sick of them, which is why I feel the need to introduce you to the New England-based twang sangers Brown Bird. I’m not usually one to do this, but I’ll let their myspace do the talking, because I feel it does it so well.

“Brown Bird began over five years ago as the brain child of songwriter David Lamb and has developed into a miniature orchestra of harmonized voices and instruments carrying Lamb’s haunting lyrics on surging waves of Appalachian, gypsy, and shanty music. The group pulls from the talents of each member to create a quiet, dark, folk music that often swells into high-spirited, foot-stomping madness.”

There you have it. Their second LP The Devil Dancing is out now on Pea Pod Recordings. Sample track “Danger & Dread” is below.
