Must See (NC): If you haven’t dipped your toe in the diverse local scene that surrounds you, now is the time to do it. I suggest heading down to downtown Durham, NC this Friday to the very hip Pinhook bar and check out the 12-inch release party for Chapel Hill’s indie favorites, I Was Totally Destroying It.
Must See (CLE): If you’re in the mood for a mid-week show, there’s no better place to be than the Grog Shop on Wednesday night for a folk double-header. It’s Chicago’s carpenter-turned-musician Joe Pug joined by Rhode-Island trio The Low Anthem. $10 will get you through the door.
Must Hear: There are a couple collection-necessary releases this week, but my top pick is the first sign of life in eight years from Athens, GA’s Circulatory System. If you like sonic experimentation, psychedelic rock, or the Elephant Six Collective hit your local record store on Tuesday and pick up Signal Morning.
