It’s not every day that I have the pleasure to post about an exciting indie band coming from my hometown shores of Lake Erie, which is why I’m very happy to introduce you to the sweet poppy sounds of Bears. A duo at heart (though they add friends for live performances), Bears layer a myriad of instruments and flirt was an almost electro sound. I’ve heard them likened to the Shins and the Beach Boys, but whoever you compare them to the result is clear: this here is some sweet sugary pop.
The lyrics are simple, the organ melodies float along delicately, and there is definitely a vintage 60’s feel at play here. But with only two EP’s and one full-length to their name, I think it will be their upcoming and untitled sophomore effort that define their sound. Until then, enjoy the sample below.
